What Do You Do When You Can’t Decide? The Conundrum of Choice

21.03.2016

The craft beer bubble shows no signs of bursting. A recent article stated that there are over 1,000 microbreweries in the UK alone and The BBC has even said that there could be a shortage on hops!

But with dozens of new brand names, new beer types and new flavour combinations crowding the shelves in our Off Licenses and supermarket aisles, how is a drinker supposed to make their choice?

And beyond that, with specialty craft beers costing more per pack than what have been dubbed ‘macro-brewed’ offerings, people don’t want to part with their hard earned cash for a six pack of beers they end up not enjoying!

What are we to do?

One possible answer has been provided by one such microbrewery, McGargles, who offer multi packs of their craft beer varieties, as well as standard packs.

One such example we observed while on an Accompanied Shop recently was a four pack of McGargles, featuring a lager, a stout, a red ale and an IPA. This clever idea allows the drinks to sample a rage of beer offerings from the same brand and once they have decided which they prefer, they can then buy a four pack which features their preferred choice only!

It’s like Kelloggs multi packs but for grown ups!

So, in answer to our own question, what do you do when you can’t decide? Give the consumer one of everything, let them make the decision for themselves and keep them coming back for their preferred option!
